Die jour fixe initiative berlin besteht seit Oktober 1997 und ist seit 2009 zu Gast in der nGbK.
Mit Vortragsreihen zur Kritik von Herrschaft, Ausbeutung und Unmündigkeit bietet sie eine Plattform für die Diskussion und Theoriebildung innerhalb der radikalen Linken an und will einen Beitrag zur Überwindung kapitalistischer Vergesellschaftung leisten. Die jour fixe initiative publiziert im selben Verlag eine Theoriereihe, in der gesellschaftstheoretische Texte zumeist fremdsprachiger Autor_innen veröffentlicht werden. Die jour fixe initiative möchte damit zu einer Internationalisierung der hiesigen linksradikalen Debatten beitragen.
2015: The Uncanny Accumulation
Has the global financial crisis been overcome or is it only postponed? Is it at all possible to overcome this crisis, or has it turned into a permanent condition? Are we being governed by the crisis, controlled by debts? What should we make of the redrawing of borders between paid labor and unpaid reproductive work, what of the crisis of reproduction? Are the garment factories in Bangladesh and the construction sites in Qatar examples for a new, capitalist form of slavery? Are land-grabbing and expulsions the ugly face of the ecological reformation of capitalism, as the global ecological crisis makes biodiesel and agrarian raw materials a highly valuable commodity in the centers? What is it that allows China to rise to a economic superpower and to become the most important creditor in the world economy? Are patents in human biology only an extension of the tendencies to monopolize knowledge? Or are we witnesses of enormous new processes of expropriation?
