Members initiative
The new format »nGbK lectures« was initiated in 2016. In panels and discussions the nGbK will intervene in the public debate, formulate statements, offer solidarity or voice outrage. At irregular intervals, members of the nGbK organise evening events dedicated to cultural-political issues.

Book presentation and reading »ART WORLD 3000. The Making of the Post-Planetary Contemporary Art« by Mohammad Salemy
Set in the next millennium’s first century, the genre bending story applies the logic of science fiction to the contingent essence of art-world-making. Part sociology, part anthropology, the book sets a new paradigm for thinking about the evolving nature, culture and technology of contemporary art on a planetary scale. After introducing his larger project of imagining the art world of the future within the frame of today’s contemporary art, Salemy will read a chapter from the new book. The evening will continue with a moderated conversation with the author and book signing.

Demokratie – ja! So hieß das Manifest, das über 300 Künstler, Intellektuelle und Kulturschaffende während des Präsidentschaftswahlkampfes 2018 in Brasilien proklamierten. In polarisierten Zeiten gelte es, das zivilisatorische Erbe des Landes, Toleranz und Kunstfreiheit zu verteidigen. Nicht erst seit dem Amtsantritt des neuen Präsidenten Jair Bolosonaro setzt der brasilianische Künstler Rafael Pagatini auf eine kritische Kunst. Sein Ziel ist es, die ikonischen Bilder der gewaltsamen politischen Geschichte des Landes, insbesondere während der Zeit der Militärdiktatur, aufzuarbeiten, zu untergraben und zu verändern. Sein Ziel verfolgt Pagatini mit einer experimentellen Technik künstlerischer Reproduktion, deren Ausgangspunkt die Druckgrafik ist. In seiner nGbK-Lecture spricht der Künstler über die seine Arbeit, die Möglichkeiten politischer Kunst und die Gefahren für die Kunst in Brasilien heute.
